Bio: Dustan Shepherd Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

A little bit about me;

In the fall of 2009, I brought my 25 years of housing finance experience in both private and public funding back to the 203k mortgage market. As a Renovation Mortgage Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage I originate loans both here in the Kansas City metro and nationally. Throughout my career, I have dealt with housing issues ranging from fair lending practices to homelessness to the education of first-time homebuyers. I have lent my experience and expertise to numerous local, regional and national forums on fair housing and civil rights.

In 1995, I co-founded First Americans Mortgage Corp. (FAMC), originally a majority-owned Native American company. As a full-service residential lender and consultant, FAMC’s mission was to provide Native Americans with high-quality, safe and affordable housing. Over the years FAMC was a consistent player in HUD Section 184 Indian Loan Guarantee market, a sister program to the 203k. FAMC partnered with Washington Mutual Bank (2003-2006) to conduct all their processing, closing and draw disbursements for the bank’s HUD Section 184 construction and renovation loans. I initiated and assisted in the development of the first risk-share program designed between a Native American nation and a private mortgage insurer in the late 1990s, when FAMC partnered with PMI Mortgage Insurance, Freddie Mac and numerous Oklahoma tribal governments.

 I currently live in Overland Park, KS with my wife and two daughters.
